AKATSUKI RISING
Fast forward one hundred years. The shinobi world hasn't changed much in the ways of culture or technology, still holding onto the ideals of the past. More wars have come and gone, and with those stories to tell. The Akatsuki fell to the allied shinobi force in the 4th Ninja World War, and all seemed to be peaceful. Until war broke out amongst the countries once again. Years later, the villages have gotten over their differences and now prosper more so than they ever had. But it was too good to last. Kusagakure, the village hidden in the grass has become much bolder and has even begun to attack great villages. Their leader is a tyrannical ruler bent on conquering all the shinobi villages, and his last attack left one of the great villages without a Kage. As the nations scramble to ready themselves from a long stretch of peace, Kusa grows, recruiting more shinobi and advancing their borders.
But lurking in the darkness is an even greater threat. One that could destroy the very shinobi world. A force so old and so powerful it has become the subject of many myths and legends. The Akatsuki. Unknown to all, a powerful missing-nin has revived the name of Akatsuki and is recruiting new members into its ranks. With the militaristic Kusa and the silent threat of a returning Akatsuki, the future seems bleak. Only the strength of the combined great villages could hope to overturn such a catastrophe. So who will take charge?
