a generation taking numbers, making calls
as shadows move across my bedroom wall

[/blockquote][/blockquote]The air outside was definitely a bit nippy, perhaps even more than that. Jack drew his arms closer to his body, his thin coat seemed no match for the cold air that was fighting to break through the fabric. He had decided against wearing a heavily coat now because the club would be hot and he would most likely be moving around a lot. Standing there out in the cold street waiting on Natalie was not something that he had planned. He knew that she was one to run late on occasion ... okay maybe a little more than on occasion, but she was already ten minutes late. He was beginning to doubt now that she would get there soon and he was silently kicking himself for not having just hung around to wait on her earlier. Although hanging around meant that it would have been harder to sneak out of the school and that would have been a problem for Jack. Even though he did love sticking his hand into the most heated of situations he had been breaking the surface of that boiling water too often lately. His knack for agitating the staff and the students alike would possibly catch up to him soon if he wasn't care, and that could mean a trip to the isolation ward. Jack did love self-torture, but sometimes that ward was a bit over the top for even him.
Currently he was enjoying the cool numbing feeling that was spreading over his limbs and stray digits due to the cold penetrating his thin coat. He knew well enough that this numbing feeling would soon blossom into a beautiful aching pain of sorts just because his limbs were protected by only a thin cloth against the biting cold. Perhaps there was something out here for him while he waited on his friend, maybe it was not so bad to stand in the frigid cold and the nearly icy streets so late at night. Jack paced back and forth near the entrance to the club while he waited, his nervousness seemed to be depicted in his steps. He had been to a few clubs, but he definitely did not go on a daily basis because he was really not the type for clubbing. He was only here tonight because Natalie liked to go and she had begged him, although at times he was not a hard one to convince especially when it came to her antics. Shoving his hands into his pockets he attempted to catch some of the warmth from his body, but it was all in vain. He just wasn't warm enough, yet his slow pacing did not seem to be helping much either. His brown eyes fumbled with the images around him -- the shaky gray sidewalk beneath his feet and the neon lights reflecting in the puddles. People were continuously walking past him and the dull roar of some sort of music was oscillating from the open club doors.
Jack found himself almost intimidated with the appearance of the clubbing district in the town. He had been there before but he had never stood outside long enough to really survey the area. The streets in the surrounding area were dirty as always and he found himself for the first time realizing how fowl the air actually was. Cringing a bit at the new focus that he had found on his surroundings, Jack silently wished to be lost again within the depths of his thoughts - which appeared very shallow now. A few minutes before there had been much on his mind, but that all seemed past now as he found his impatience growing. Jack could be very patient most of the time, just his own internal disgust appeared to be counteracting that tonight. What exactly disgusted him about this district? Although it did seem to be a great area to get into some trouble, Jack found himself revolted by the idea of the grimy streets because they vaguely reminded him of somewhere else he'd been. Although it had been years he could still picture the street that appeared similar enough to the one on which he stood now. In spite of the reaching that it took to compare the two together, Jack barely saw the difference between the two. He was easily blinded by the slight resemblance it bore as he stood there his noise semi-wrinkled in his own disgust. His thoughts had begun to dart through the middle of everything and now he struggled to will them away when seconds before he had been yearning to find them.
