Soft white padding lined the walls, floor, and ceiling of a windowless room that Denny currently sat in. For some reason a lot of the students at Rosedale despised this room because they can’t stand being so cut off for so long, but to Denny it was like a vacation. He simply loved the isolation room, his first time he ever was in there he spent a full hour running from wall to wall laughing as he bounced back and forth. Of course that was after he was in there for 4 hours and had a mood swing from the very bad mood that had landed him in isolation in the first place, but that was beside the point. Basically Denny loved the isolation room, when he was in a good mood. In a bad mood all Denny wanted to do was tear every shred of white fluff off the walls and ground. The bad moods are usually why Denny is sent to the Isolation Room, that’s right the isolation room. There was only one padded room in Rosedale so whenever the unlikely event happened when there was more than one student being unruly they were both shoved in the room together. Sometimes the staff didn’t think it through that well when they put people together, like one time there were two sex addicts put in the room and well you know where that would go. However Denny had only ever gotten company once but they put them both in straight jackets, which kind of ruined the appeal of it. Today Denny had earned his trip to the Isolation Room for the usual reason; he was in a bad mood. This morning he had actually woken up in a pretty good mood, rolling out of bed later then he was supposed to and walking down the halls by himself humming to himself. He was on his way to one of his group therapy sessions, that he was obviously late for, when he walked by an obvious anger management yelling at a little first year. The switch in Denny’s head flipped from happy, goofy, guy to rampaging, crazy man. The voices in his head practically stopped as a rage overcame Denny. Honestly Denny didn’t remember what happened until he was being dragged away from the guy lying on the ground all bloody by a three of the huge security staff. After they threw Denny in the padded room he sat there seething and mumbling to himself. Maybe an hour passed before the door opened again, but instead of a person coming in an object came flying at him. Scrambling a few feet over Denny saw what they had tossed in at him, a coloring book with a plastic baggy of crayons taped onto the front. A huge smile spread across Denny’s face, his mood automatically changing. Now this must seem odd, but Denny’s doctors and therapists didn’t like Denny being alone in a room where the voices took over. They didn’t see it as beneficial, but the school knew they needed to punish him, so the two groups compromised by giving Denny some kind of activity to do while in the padded room, coloring being his favorite. As he sat in the padded room intently coloring a page that had Superman flying through the sky the door opened yet again. His bright blue eyes looked up hopefully; maybe they were throwing in another coloring book to pass by the next hour. Instead a man walked in giving him an odd look, well Denny was a 6’4” guy with lots of blond hair dressed in a very vibrant outfit sitting in the corner coloring while smiling to himself. The man told him that someone else was to be coming into the room and he was to stay in his corner and color, if Denny wasn’t in such a good mood he would be upset at being talked to like a 4 year old and not a 17 year old, but he didn’t care if they sent in a murderer as long as he got to color. Laura really hadn't been at this school very long and so she was still learning how things worked her. She was getting to know the other students, which ones to stay away from and which were fun to manipulate. The staff, they were a different sort all together though. She was sure most of them were just as insane as half the students locked up in this place. However that didn't stop Laura from being her wickedly sweet self to each and everyone of them. Most of the put up with her attitude amazingly well, or perhaps they were just cutting her some slack seeing as she was new. Today that slack seemed to come to an end.
It really wasn't anything that bad, or at least Laura didn't think it was. She had made a few comments to one of the female staff members about resembling a hippo and than pointed out how one of the male staff members looked as though he was preparing to mount one of the crazy students. Who knew that wasn't appropriate conversation for the group room. Laura was sure they had told them all to feel free to share whatever they wanted. They really should have set clearer limits. However they hadn't and it had landed her in trouble. She was being escorted down the hallway toward an isolation room. It didn't sound like a good time, though...it also sounded sort of peaceful. Laura was looking forward to some time away from everyone else and hell it had got her out of the group session so she saw it as a win -win.
Confusion set in though as they stopped outside of the room and someone stepped inside and spoke to someone. Was there someone else in there? She assumed that whoever it was would be coming out so they could put her in there, but she was wrong as they started to lead her toward the door. Laura saw a blond haired boy sitting in the corner colour, with a dorky ass grin plastered on his face. Were they seriously going to lock her in a room with a certified crazy person? There was no fuckin way Laura was going to stand for that. "Like fuckin hell I'm going in there with him!"[/b] Laura exclaimed digging her heels in, it was a futile attempt though as the men were far stronger than the petite blonde and before she could say another word the door was slammed shut.
Laura pounded on the door as though it would make any difference at all. "Let me the hell out of here!"[/b] Laura screamed before turning her head from the door to eye the boy she was now sharing a cell with. "Assholes."[/b] She mumbled in a near silent voice. Laura watched the boy in silence not really sure what to make of him, or what to say. This wasn't like other situations Laura had been in before, here there was no escape. She was painfully aware of the fact that she needed to be careful what she did or said to this guy because for him to be in here he had to have done something. Than again she hadn't really done a thing and look where it landed her...

There was just something therapeutic about systematically coloring. First Denny would outline what needed to be colored, on the inside mind you no going out of the lines, then precisely draw straight lines until the whole area was color, then repeat on all the other areas. Maybe it was just something to give his disorderly mind to do, a distraction of sorts from the chaos going on in his own head. Most people were in the Academy because of the chaos around them that they got sucked into, but Denny was in the Academy because of the chaos inside of him that he got sucked into. The person that had just gotten thrown in to the Isolation Room with Denny was most definitely there on accord of the craziness around her not that her head was messed up like Denny’s, well maybe it was but not as messed up as his. She was kicking and yelling the whole way in causing the voices in his head to complain. She’s too loud make her shut up Den a voice complained. I will not I want to color Denny said to himself in a low voice. Seriously she’s getting on my nerves a voice interjected. I’m sure she’ll stop soon! Denny argued back. Yeah she stopped but now she’s watching you a voice pointed out causing Denny to look up and see the girl analyzing him. Just as fast as Denny looked up to check and see what the girl was doing he whipped his shockingly bright blue eyes back to his coloring book. If the voices kept being this loud then surely that couldn’t be good. Whenever they got too loud it was always easier for Denny to switch from a good to a bad mood with just the wrong thing that his own brain produced. During this whole nervous thought process Denny sat there intently coloring until he had finished his Superman picture. Slowly he ripped the piece of art out of its book so the sound of ripping paper seemed to go on forever. Finally the masterpiece was out and placed neatly on the ground next to him. Maybe Denny could make this situation be beneficial and make a new friend, well maybe. The girl didn’t seem too happy to be stuck in Isolation, especially with Denny. Trying to think of a good way to ease the tension Denny peaked back up at the girl with his bright blue eyes watching her through his blond hair. If only he was allowed out of his corner so he could go talk to her. The stupid camera mounted near the door was making it difficult for Denny to think of a way to make sure that their time in Isolation was a good one and not bad. A good situation would be them talking and becoming friends; a bad situation would be Denny getting mad running across the room and losing it like he had done on the anger management kid just a few hours ago. Psssst! Denny hissed in her direction and waved his hand to get her attention. Once he got her attention, or he thought he did Denny launched his plan to have a fun time in Isolation with his first ever company in the room. Hi! I’m Denny! Denny said loudly so she could hear him across the small room and so he could hear himself against the yelling in his head. Who are you? He asked cheerfully, before grabbing his coloring book and holding it up and saying So do you want to color with me?. If there was any question on what was wrong with Denny now, there probably wasn’t anymore doubt that she thought he was crazy. She wasn't sure what to make of this guy as he continued to colour and talk to himself. This guy was a class A nutcase and Laura was slightly worried about her safety in this room.Maybe if she just stayed quiet and ignored him he'd leave her along. It wasn't like she could physically get away from him, this room was too small. That's why when he started to shout at her she nearly jumped out of her skin. "I'm Laura...and no thanks, I'm not much for colouring." She replied far more polite than she would have to anyone else. If she wasn't locked in this room with Denny than she knew she wouldn't have been as nice to him, however she was so she had to play nice for now.
Leaning her back against the wall Laura slowly lowered herself to the floor and pulled her knees toward her chest. This wasn't going to be fun. It was going to be very hard for Laura to sit here quietly and play nice, it just wasn't in her nature. She had her doubts that her normal tactics would even work on his guy. If he was talking to himself did that mean he heard voices or something? If that was the case than she'd need to be very careful because Laura had heard stories about people like that and how violent they could get. Running her hand through her hair Laura let out a long and heavy sigh. "So Denny? how long do they normally keep people locked up in here?"[/b] Laura asked just assuming that this wasn't the first time the boy had been in here. Hell it seemed as though he had come prepared with a colouring book and crayons.
If you set aside the fact that this guy was completely insane than he was a pretty cute guy. There was something about his bright blue eyes that made Laura want to keep looking at him, though she tried to keep them down so that it wouldn't be as obvious. Not that she was afraid of guys knowing she was flirting, normally she made that more than obvious to them, but this guy and this situation just didn't seem to fit. It wasn't the safest feeling situation she had ever been in. Yet there was something so exciting about the danger that certainly kept her interest.

Oh Denny responded rather disappointed that his plan to get Laura to have fun with him had failed. Of course it failed dumb ass what teenage girl would want to color with you? Visibly disappointed Denny muttered It was just a thought. No wonder your parents sent you to this place, you’re an idiot another voice laughed at him causing Denny’s shoulders to sink. Shut up! The voices in Denny’s head were practically yelling at him by now causing Denny to abandon his coloring book and pull his knees to his chest, taking deep calming breathes. The deep breathes were something that Denny was actually taught by an anger management counselor; apparently the counselor says it works for some of the kids at Rosedale. This was a typical reaction to a disappointment. However luckily it was small enough for Denny to keep his cool. Actually it was an escalated situation where Denny was disappointed that got him sent to Rosedale in the first place. His parents didn’t seem to find any pride in their son, so they didn’t even bother checking to see if he wanted to go to the fundraiser that just so happened to also be attended by some of his favorite bands. It seems like something trivial, but he was always being disappointed or being a disappointment that it became too much and he lost it. His parents came home to their house destroyed and Denny laughing like a maniac then almost attacking them. Now of course a refusal to color together didn’t warrant such a reaction, but he was still trying to deal with the increasing volume in his head. Thankfully Laura interrupted the voices yelling at him with a question. A very complicated question mind you. There were varying times that people got sent to Isolation. There have been people in Isolation for days for doing some horrible things, then there were the 24 hours for moderate violence, 6-12 hours for low violence, and then there were smaller increments for the smaller things. Denny is supposed to be in Isolation for 24 hours because of how bad he beat up that mean kid, but there were times where Denny has been sent to Isolation for just a few hours. There was one of his friends that simply got sent to Isolation for an hour for giving a lot of attitude. So Denny really didn’t know how long the usual was for other people, only for him. Well I’m usually in here for around a day Denny said. But for not so serious things you’re only in here for an hour or two Denny reassured her figuring that a girl really couldn’t do anything that bad to get into Isolation, even though it was stereotypical to think that way. You know she could be in here for longer a voice whispered a reminder to Denny. Oh Denny whispered to himself. Dear god you dumb ass. Seriously how could you not think of that, maybe she’s some psycho killer that could come kill your stupid crazy ass a meaner voice taunted. Shut up I’m not going to listen to you anymore! Denny mumbled louder, starting to get annoyed. The voices kept yelling and taunting him until Denny finally couldn’t take it. SHUT UP! Denny yelled and through the coloring book across the room then slamming his hands against his ears and burying his head in his tucked in knees. Great so she could be in here from an hour to a day, just wonderful. Laura was impressed at all, she just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. It took Laura a moment to realize who Denny was talking to an it wasn't Laura. The boy was talking to himself and it sounded like he was fighting with himself not a good sign. Laura hoped to god she was safe in here because this was seriously starting to freak her out. Her eyes moved over to Denny than to his colouring book and finally resting on the floor. Maybe it was best just not to look at him, the last thing she wanted to do was piss off this guy off.
The yelling seemed to die down a bit when she had been talking to him so maybe that would be a good thing to keep up. "So Denny how long have you been at Rosedale?" Laura asked him not because she was curious but because she wanted to get him talking some more. There really was only so much you could talk to a crazy person about if you were worried about upsetting them. Maybe if she knew him a bit better she'd be able to talk about things he was interested in, but Laura knew nothing about this guy.
It was beyond her comprehension how the school could lock two students in a room together, especially a male and female student. So maybe Denny wasn't dangerous because if they locked her up with a potentiality dangerous person that was just asking for a lawsuit. A lot of good that would do her though if this guy murdered her. It would make her father's life a lot easier, he set her away and than she was killed. He'd never have to worry about her again maybe that was all part of his evil plan. Laura wouldn't be surprised to find out that he had hoped for something like that to happen while she was here. Either that or he hoped this place would make her crazy and so she'd have to stayed locked up for the rest of her life. Either way it was a shit deal for her and great one for her father.

Seriously kid if we shut up then you wouldn’t be here a voice snickered. Well I don’t want to be here Denny mumbled to himself with his head still tucked into his knees so even if Laura could hear him before now all that he said would be muffled. Of course you want to be here another voice sneered. No I don’t! Denny argued back. Would you rather be back at your house? a slightly nicer voice offered. No, but that doesn’t mean everyone has to yell at me Denny offered back. Obviously this conversation with himself was going no where. Luckily Laura picked a good time to interrupt. However even though Denny was pretty sure that Laura had spoken he wasn’t sure if it was his mind playing tricks on him. So for a few seconds Denny contemplated on whether or not it was her before looking back up at her through his messy blond hair. She looked as if she was waiting for an answer so that must mean she was the one who asked the question and not just some trick of his head. It was logical though to think that his head was playing a trick on him because it wouldn’t be the first time that Denny spoke to someone who he thought had said something but it was really just his head. Me? Um I’ve been here for a year Denny said with a smile, his good mood returning after his conversation with himself. It was easier for Denny to be in a better mood when he had something else on his mind to distract the voices. Usually when he was in a bad mood was when the voices were so loud that he couldn’t hear his own thoughts and he just acted on pure violent impulse. Lucky for this girl Denny wasn’t in a bad mood, but even if he was surely the staff would put him in those retched straight jackets so they didn’t have some law suit for putting an innocent girl in a room with a crazy kid. Honestly to Denny it didn’t seem like he’s been at Rosedale that long. Only a few days ago that’s what it felt like. The memory of how Denny actually got to Rosedale was still foggy, all he remembers is waking from one of his blackouts to his house destroyed and laughing uncontrollably. His parents yelled and screamed but it only caused him to laugh harder. When they tried to get him to move by telling him he wouldn’t, so they tried to physically move him, which resulted in him going crazy again. After that the shrink came to their house and diagnosed Denny easily by him mumbling to himself and erratic mood swings. Those are the few things that Denny remembers from that incident otherwise all he remembers is packing his bags and being put in a car that drove him to Rosedale. How long have you been here Laura? Denny asked back hoping to keep the conversation going so the one in his head could remain on standstill. The last thing that Denny wanted was for the conversation to run dry and the one in his head to pick back up again. Surely if the voices got too loud then he would do something stupid that would warrant him to be wrapped up in a straight jacket, which from past experiences aren’t fun. If you have an itch on your nose thinking of creative ways to ease the irritation was always much harder than you’d think. All Denny could do was hope that Laura wouldn’t leave him alone to deal with the voices in his head. WORDS ;; 614 STATUS ;; finished TAGGED ;; laura OUTFIT ;; clickrighthereNOTES ;; here ya go !
