KABLE MATTHEW RUSH
NAME: Kable Matthew Rush
GENDER: Male
AGE&YEAR: 18&&Year Five
PROBLEM: Paranoid Schizophrenic & Phobic {Mental Disorder}
RISK: Extremely High
PLAY BY: Conor Oberst
APPEARANCE:
To put it one way, Kable is a skinny little fuck. He's afraid of most food, well, more accurately of what someone had done to said food. This gives him a sort of malnourished look to him, and also seems to add to the bags that almost always seem to be under those dark eyes of his. His eyes are large and round, often giving a sort of deer in the headlights expression, and the irises are a dark shade, almost black. As for his hair, it's dark and unkept, he doesn't really see much point in looking all too physically appealing. His features are ever so mousy, or maybe it's just because of the energy that he's always putting out that causes him to seem so frail. Not that he isn't frail, because he really is. Tall and frail. Standing at about 6'4, he seems like sort of a freak.
There is an odd attractiveness about him though, and maybe if he wasn't so crazy he would be handsome, but he is crazy, and it shows in those big eyes of his and the way that he trembles when he gets in a situation he doesn't know how to handle.
PERSONALITY:
His entire life he's had issues, well, damn near his entire life. Kable could easily be compared to a trembling leaf. He's scared of damn near everything, and that means everything. From typical fears like claustrophobia to things a bit more impractical like his fear of dust. It's his fears that seem to control his entire world, his fears and his schizophrenia. And they only seem to perpetuate each other. He sees faces in the dust, and hears voices from them, and that causes both symptoms to become worse. A lot of the time someone could find Kable curled into a ball in some corner muttering to himself, well, that's not what he thinks. He's convinced that he's taking to his friend, his protector, the person who lets him know what he's supposed to do.
Kable's trust issues are extensive and critical. There is only one person in the entire world that he trusts, and that's Lucille, his cousin, and the only person who has ever shown much care in him. Other than her, he can't trust anyone. He rarely talks to people because frankly, he's scared, terrified, then there's always the fact that he can never be sure if said person is real or not. If someone gets too close to him he's apt to lash out, if for no other reason then he feels like it's his way of protecting himself. Kable is scared of the word, and all the people in it, sure that they'd like nothing more than to hurt him. So he steers clear of people as much as he possibly can
He can't stand being touched, it damn near gives him a heart attack when anyone touches him. And he's jumpy, ohhh so jumpy. The littlest thing can leave him hyperventilating and shaking so bad that he may very well be having some sort of seizure.
The meds seem to help a lot of his problems, but they don't completely. If you catch him on a good day and can actually get him to talk he's actually a very sweet boy, intelligent too. He doesn't have much to say, but what he does is interesting, to say the least. There's a sweetness to him that you would typically find in children, a sort of innocence that most people lose by the time that they're his age. This quality almost makes him endearing, but only almost.
Mostly, to sum Kable up, he's more or less like a kicked puppy, sad, alone, scared, and trembling.
HISTORY:
Kable Matthew Rush was born on a chilly May morning. His coming was not something that was needed, nor wanted, but instead he was the product of the rape of a fifteen year old girl. Of course, she didn't keep the baby, but instead had given him up for adoption. After all, there was no reason why the girl should ruin her life because something so terrible had happened to her, and she hadn't had the balls to get an abortion, so she found the Rush's. Joe and Kathy Rush. They seemed nice enough, stable, and she knew that her infant would have a wonderful life with these people.
He was a healthy baby, no problems, and he was a pure joy when the Rush's had brought their new bouncing boy into their home. For five years they lived a nearly perfect life, the three of them. Happy, healthy, all of the things that one would hope as an outcome for a case such as Kable's. Things started going a bit sour though, not that the young boy understood any of it. He had yet to even enter big boy school. All he knew was that mommy and daddy were fighting a lot, and daddy drank a lot of that really bad smelling juice. The kind that he wasn't allowed to have.
Tragedy struck the young boys world one night when his father had come home more than drunk, convinced that his wife had been having an affair. As was typical for Kable, he went and hid in the closet. When his parents ended up in his room he saw things he couldn't understand. Mommy was holding a gun, she was holding a gun and she was pointing it at daddy. And mommy looked like she was hurt, hurt bad. Kable had wanted to run out to her but something told him not too.
There was yelling, several more things that he didn't understand, and then the gun shot. He watched his father fall to the ground, then he watched as his mother turned the gun on herself.
A schism happened in Kable's brain that night. A sort of splice. When the police found him he'd been curled in a ball, just staring. The boy stayed catatonic for several weeks, and once he showed improvement he was released into his Aunt's care. A woman, who really wasn't ready to take on the task of taking care of a mentally damaged child, but it was her Christian duty after all. She had to take the lad in, seeing as he was the only good thing in her late sister's life. Her sister who obviously needed a better relationship with God.
It was there that he was raised, the only friend he ever made being Lucille, his cousin, and a girl who was the same age as he. She protected him, took care of him, but obviously had some problems of her own.
Age fourteen he got sent here. He supposed it was simply because his aunt hadn't known of it's existence, or she'd just waited it out until he was old enough to attend the school. He'd been placed in solitary for the first few weeks because of the emotional wreak he was being torn from Lucille. He still remains high risk, and the meds work some of the time, but not all of them. He is scared, and alone, and still hasn't adjusted to the school even though he'd was going on his fifth year as a student. Chances were he would end up transferred to a psychiatric ward after he turned twenty, because no matter how much time he spent in this place, it didn't seem to help him in the slightest.
