ROXANNE AVERY DEWITT
NAME: ROXANNE AVERY DEWITT
GENDER: FEMALE
AGE&YEAR: SEVENTEEN , YEAR THREE
PROBLEM: ANOREXIA NERVOSA
RISK: MODERATE
PLAY BY: EMILIE NERENG
APPEARANCE:
Standing at a slightly taller five foot six, Roxanne's weight certainly doesn't match up to where it should be, as she's only around ninety pounds. Though, honestly, she's not even happy with her weight that low. Her hair is a naturally a blonde close to what it is now, however, she's bleached it once or twice to get it exactly to the color it is now. Her eyes are a slightly deeper blue, with a hue of gray to them. For the most part, due to the length of her hair, Roxanne opts to leave it in its natural state, a slightly wavy, but still primarily straight sort of combination. However, if she's feeling particularly bored, she'll take the time to actually do something with it. Despite her figure, Roxanne will rarely wear clothing considered to be 'skin tight'. She cannot stand the way she looks in clothing that tight. For the most part, her wardrobe consists of looser, straight legged jeans, a t-shirt, always covered by a hoodie. If she's feeling daring, she'll take the hoodie off, every now and again. And, though, it's insanely rare for her, on occasion, she'll wear shorts and a tank-top. Though, it's almost virtually unheard of for her.
PERSONALITY:
First and foremost, she's reserved. She's far from outgoing, and views herself as so disgusting, that people would have to be stupid to even associate with her. She's not antisocial, per se, far from actually. She's just more of the type of person who, if you want to start a conversation with her, you'd have to be the one to start it. Her self-esteem and self-confidence are ridiculously low, and she can't accept a compliment worth anything. She's actually slightly paranoid when it comes to compliments as she's convinced that anyone who takes the time to tell her she's pretty, she looks nice today, she's skinny, or whatever the compliment may have been, that they're lying to her, trying to make a joke out of her, because there's no way that they could see that in her. Her self image is absolutely terrible.
Roxanne is insanely innocent, in the fact that, well, she hasn't really done anything to change that in her life. She's just never really seen why anyone would bother to change that. See, the least innocent thing Roxanne has ever done was making out with someone. She's never really experienced the whole other side of innocence, or well, lack thereof, that most people her age tend to have by that point. She's not sheltered or anything of that sort, as she's well aware of what all these things are, in detail. She's just never partaken in any of it. Not to mention that she doesn't trust anyone nearly enough for anything like that to possibly ever happen. She's not exactly that great with people, and well, due to her whole paranoia that people are constantly lying to her, it's safe to say that trust certainly isn't her forte. Her trust is not something that is easily earned, and if you've earned it, and somehow manage to lose it, don't expect to ever get it back. She's not a forgive and forget type of person.
Though, if you can manage to earn her trust, or hell, if you can get her to even talk to you, you'll learn a few things about her. For one, Roxanne is insanely loyal, and, well, she has a slight habit of getting attached sometimes. Not in the whole sad little puppy dog sort of way, but in the, 'wow you're actually talking to me, I'm going to stick with you' sort of way. She's also quite the sweetheart, going out of her way to cheer up someone who's in a bad mood. Her friends and such definitely come before her own needs, as to her, they're more important than she could ever be. She's actually a bit of a pushover, as well, easily swayed and persuaded, you could easily get her to do just about anything you wanted her to, at little to no cost to you. It's just the way she is. Always wanting to make sure people are happy. She's got the capability of about an ounce of rebellion, against eating, but that's about it. All in all, it's just the way Roxanne has always been.
HISTORY:
Born April 16th, Roxanne was born raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her family life was an average one, as she had an older brother, a younger sister, a mother, a father, and a dog. The American Dream, right? Unfortunately, Roxanne's life, though good in the earlier years, turned out to be anything but. Being the middle child, with a brother three years older, and a sister four years younger, it was easy to say that Roxanne faced the wrath of being a middle child. At the age of five, when her brother was old enough to actually start going out and doing things, her younger sister was a mere year old, leaving minimal attention left for Roxanne to enjoy. Though, she never really seemed to mind much, always finding her way into something that she could use to entertain herself. This was, apparently, the start of why Roxanne always remained so reserved.
As years passed, not much changed really. By the time she was ten, her younger sister was now six years old, her older brother thirteen and discovering the opposite sex. Now her parents had a whole new set of concerns, their final child entering school, after a year of delay, and their eldest one discovering the female variety. This, again, left Roxanne in the shadows. But, by this point, she had grown rather used to it, and once again resorted to keeping herself entertained, finding a certain fondness for painting, drawing, and sketching. Within a short amount of time, this is what Roxanne's life mainly became. Neglected by her parents, while engulfing herself in art. And, well, while things remained like that, things in Roxanne's life were good. Her parents still did manage to make time for her, and her skills were increasing. The next three years seemed to fly by. That was fortunate, as since her thirteenth birthday, life never seemed to go by so slow. The first thirteen years of her life were desirable, average, but desirable, nonetheless. However, after she turned thirteen? Well, that was a completely different story.
See, at the age of thirteen, well, to put it lightly, Roxanne had hit her 'awkward' phase. She was stuck in braces, her hair seemed to frizz, and while she was at an average weight, it never seemed to be good enough for the girls at her school. Though, she was only in eighth grade, the girls in her school seemed to need a target to go after, and well, who better than the awkward looking, average weighted Roxanne? And, well, see, Roxanne took these words to heart, doing everything she could. She started changing the hair products she used, started wearing it back when it still frizzed, started smiling less to cover up her braces. Hell, she even found her way into makeup. However, the major thing did was the habit that Roxanne was never going to be able rid herself of. She couldn't stand being called fat. She couldn't stand the comments. So, her solution? Starvation. At thirteen years old, Roxanne dove into the world of anorexia. A habit she's yet to have been able to break.
By age fifteen, Roxanne had been into her anorexic habits for a little over two years, the braces had come off, and by some miracle, she had managed to figure out something to do with her hair that didn't look absolutely god awful. The biggest change however? Roxanne had grown. She was about five foot six now. However, there was one thing. She weighed a mere hundred pounds, and that still wasn't skinny enough for her. She wanted to be smaller, she wanted to be thinner. She wanted to prove to those girls that she wasn't fat. Though, every time, she would see herself, and still feel fat. Sure, she had actually finally kissed a guy. But, that was all she was ever going to do, at this rate. In her eyes, she was a disgrace to the human race. She was just as ugly and fat as she had been at thirteen, if not worse now. Within the next few months, just after her sixteenth birthday, Roxanne found herself to weigh around ninety pounds. This still wasn't enough for her. She wanted to weigh less, she wanted to be skinnier, so the starvation continued.
Finally, about four months before her seventeenth birthday, Roxanne passed out one day during school, and well, of course, they weighed her, and when the doctor had a 5'6" patient, weighing 80 pounds in front him, it was safe to say that he knew something needed to be done. And, well, that's exactly how Roxanne wound up at Rosedale. It's helped her some, and her weight is back around 90 pounds, and they're working to get it up even further. However, she's not overly thrilled with being forced to eat, nor is she thrilled about gaining weight, which is why she's beginning to avert eating, and lie to her doctors. But, well, this act was probably only going to stay intact for so long.
